I cant believe im almost done with the MTC! Time is flying by like crazy! I leave Tuesday at 3:30...in the morning for West Virginia! Im sooooo excited! Im slowly but surely getting used to being called Sister Taylor. But everyone in my district just calls me Taylor. It's crazy thinking i wont be hearing my own name for the next 18 months. Hailey Bayles, my bestie and rommie from UVU, is finally here!! I only get to see her during meals but thats better than nothing!:) So me and my companion got 2 new investigators this week. Rod and Erika. We meet with Rod in the mornings and Erika in the evenings. Both super awesome. So Rod was super curious the first day about the Book of Mormon so we explained it to him and we read the introduction with him. He loved it and wanted to know more but we ran out of time so we said we could teach him more the next day. Alright now let me give you a background on Erika. She's been dating an lds boy for about a year now and its getting to the point in their relationship where she has to decide if she wants to get baptized or not and shes been meeting with a lot of different missionaries to decide if its really what she wants to do . So when we walked in to talk to her for the first time, she sat us down and was straight up with us.She said "I'm sick of all the missionaries teaching me the same thing over and over again. It's always a lesson straight from the book. Do they not teach you how to teach any else? I've been reading the Book of Mormon and honestly i just want to know about Zarahemla." Me: (gulp) ha i was so nervous but i took a deep breath and said a little prayer in my heart. Luckily my companion is super smart and started talking about where Zarahemla was acording to some maps. While she did this i was scanning through bible dictionary, topical guide, and the idex to find anything i could. I then went and sat by Erika and said. "To be completaly honest with you i know almost nothing about Zarahemla. But when im reading and come across something im unsure of, i turn to the back of my scriptures and go from there." I then taught her how foot notes and everything work and she thought that was so cool. The rest of our lesson we read some scriptures about Zarahemla and talked some more. She decided that she wanted to read through all of Alma 32 with us the next day because there was some things she didnt understand. We agreed and then she thanked us so much for being real with her and teaching her something she was actually interested in. After leaving i thanked heavenly father for keeping me calm and for helping me and my companion have a discussion about something you cant find in the handbooks. So that night for companion study we studied all of Alma 32 and picked it apart verse by verse so we could answer any questions she had. When we went in to teach Rod the next day he said he had found some verses in the Book of Mormon that he didnt understand and wanted us to explain. Guess where the verses were? Alma 32! Me and my companion just looked at each other and smiled. If we wouldn't have read through it the night before we wouldnt have been able to answer any of his questions because they were very complex. I now have a testimony on the importance of being prepared. No matter what the circumstance is i promise that if we do our part, Heavenly Father will always help us. So i was able be a host yesterday! If you dont know what that is, its the missionary that takes the new missionary away from their family. Sad hu? But it was awesome being able to comfort the new sisters through that rough time. It was crazy to see hundreds of families say goodbye to their children knowing that was me only 2 weeks ago. Its amazing how much you grow spiritually in just a day! Im still loving it here but I'm super excited to be in West Virginia next week! I love this gospel so much! -Sister Taylor
