Week 10

November 22, 2016

Okay dont freak out she's not actually dead. But in the mission, the last area you serve is where you die. And Sister Johnson died here in Radford. She's now safely home with her family in Murray:) My new companion is Sister Lunt. She's from Ceder City Utah and she's a solid missionary! She's allergic to all fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, and almonds. But she played soccer so we're gonna get a long just great!:)
So this week during our district meeting at the church, an older man walked into the room. Which was odd because it was later at night and we were on the back side of the building. He said he was looking for a pastor to help him with some things and we told him no one was here at this time but we talked to him about what we do as missionaries and asked if we could come teach him sometime and he agreed! He then started singing some song about a river and calvary and everyone in my district just looked around at each other trying not to laugh. But his  name is Vance Pettus and he already has a strong testimony of Gods hand in his life. We always have our meetings in the morning but that night had to be different to work around other events going on. If we had the meeting at its usual time, we wouldn't have been there to talk to him. We still don't really know how it all worked out but we know he walked into our meeting for a reason and I'm super excited to teach him:) Faith in God is faith in his timing. He places us in the right place at the right time and i have a super strong testimony of that.
I also have a strong testimony that the Lord loves and protects his missionaries. It's been super cold this past week so we do our best to fill our night with people to see so that we don't have to be out in the cold. Friday came and we had plans for the entire night. But they all fell through. Realizing we were going to be walking in the cold until 9pm if we didn't find somewhere to go, we called as many people as we could in the area and with Heavenly Fathers help we were able to fill our entire night with appointments!:) Things like this happen ALL the time and its amazing watching him take care of us as we do all we can to serve him.
We had the amazing opportunity to be part of a mission tour with Elder Meurs yesterday! For those of you who don't know who that is, he's one of the quorum of the 70 and he spoke in general conference about the sacrament. He spoke to all of us about how to find those who Heavenly Father had prepared for us and he shared the importance of recognizing the spirit. He then made a promise to all of us that if we devote ourselves to being full time servants to the Lord during our missions that it would bless us for the rest of our lives!!! How cool is that?! I was lucky enough to give the prayer at the close of the meeting and shake his hand and talk to him for a brief moment.
I can't believe Thanksgiving is this week!!! Wasn't it just halloween?...Time is flying by! I just want to challenge you all to make a list of things you're grateful for and all the blessings you have. Then pray to Heavenly Father thanking him for everything he's given you!:) I hope you all have the best week EVER!!!:) Spend lots of time with your family and eat LOTS of food!! Someone eat a piece of pumpkin pie for me!:)
