Week 8-Do you carrot all?

Image
November 7, 2016 If you carrot all about the scriptures, read them!!! Yes...i dressed up as a carrot for the ward halloween party. And when i say dress up, i mean i wore all orange ha because we're not aloud to dress up.   But anywaysssss this week was so good!!!! We pray everyday that the sprit will guide us to the people who Heavenly Father has prepared for us. And he always does! Its so crazy to look back on our day and see how we were lead to certain places at certain times and how everything plays together. The other day we weren't having much luck while tracting but on our last door we were talking to this lady and a guy across the hall was coming in and out of his apartment carrying stuff. When we were finished talking to the lady we asked him if he needed any help. He said no and started walking off and then turned around and asked us if we were Jehovahs witnesses. After we told him no he said "Oh good! I heard you talking to the lady back there about the bible...

Week 6-Garden of Weedin"

Image
October 24, 2016  So I noticed our weeds were getting out of hand. Like growing past the sidewalk and onto the street. I asked Sister Johnson when the last time they weeded was and she said ohhhhh about a year ago. So we assigned a day and time to weed. The morning came that we were going to weed and it was raining so hard! I was like, wow of all days to rain it has to be the day we need to go outside. After studies the rain had stopped completely! While weeding i realized that because the ground was wet, the weeds came out super easy. I then got thinking about how sometimes in life things happen that we don't plan for and we may get upset because its not how we want it to be. But we need to remember that Heavenly Father knows whats best for us and he can make things easier if we put our trust him:)     Alright i need to tell you about one of our investigators. His name is Joel and he's been born with some disability the prevents him from being able to walk normally. ...

Week 4-battleSHIP

Image
October 10, 2016 Officially on the battle field and suited with the armor of God! Ha so im officially in my first area!  Radford, Virginia! I only remember that because they say Radford is "rad" Flying into West Virginia  was crazy! There's so many trees and its green everywhere! Literally looks like broccoli from a sky point  of view. My companion is Sister Johnson from Murray Utah. She's so nice and i already love her. So the  night i got there we went and visited a man named Joe Duncan. He's investigating the church and the  previous missionaries have met with him quite a few times. We taught him about the Book of Mormon  and gave him a HUGE copy because his eyes are terrible. He's a very interesting man but he's my favorite.  He's 63 and lives in a trailer park with his dog named quesadilla. He's missing part of a finger on his right  hand because his wife accidentally pulled the trigger while he was cleaning...

Week 5-companionSHIP

Image
October 17, 2016 Isn't it so cool that we have the Holy Ghost as our constant companion?! It's such a blessing and brings me so much comfort! Especially as a new missionary. I don't know everything yet but with his help i always find things to say. This week was really good! Now that i have the hang of things its a lot easier. We had a tragic event happen here in Radford. So me and my companion had on our schedule to visit this girl. But at church we heard she wasn't feeling well so we decided to text her brother to see if she was okay. They responded with a text saying that she had jumped off a bridge. So this whole week the town has been searching the river for her. We've had search teams and boats and helicopters and everything all week. But no luck. It's very sad and we've been over to the families house multiple times trying to comfort them. The day they called off the search i received a letter from my mom. Which included a talk about why bad things ...

Week 10

November 22, 2016 Okay dont freak out she's not actually dead. But in the mission, the last area you serve is where you die. And Sister Johnson died here in Radford. She's now safely home with her family in Murray:) My new companion is Sister Lunt. She's from Ceder City Utah and she's a solid missionary! She's allergic to all fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, and almonds. But she played soccer so we're gonna get a long just great!:)     So this week during our district meeting at the church, an older man walked into the room. Which was odd because it was later at night and we were on the back side of the building. He said he was looking for a pastor to help him with some things and we told him no one was here at this time but we talked to him about what we do as missionaries and asked if we could come teach him sometime and he agreed! He then started singing some song about a river and calvary and everyone in my district just looked around at each other tr...

Week 9

Image
November 16, 2016 Those of you who know me know how much i love animals...so this week we were teaching Brother Duncan and his dog Quesadilla jumped up and licked me right in the mouth. After gagging just a little i was able to continue teaching.     So this week was awesome!!! I feel like i say that a lot but its always true! Brother Duncan made toilet paper Sister Johnson. He's seriously the sweetest old man. He got really sick this past week and at the close of our lesson we asked him to say the prayer. He prayed for all the things he was grateful for and then said "If you find the time, please help me get better." I thought that was so neat! Because i think so many of us pray and ask for things now, but it's so important to be patient and remember that Heavenly Father knows when we need answers better than we do.      This week while teaching Jennifer she stopped and said, "You girls make me so happy". We thanked her and then informed her tha...
